Foreign business/university partner
Are you considering taking one of our students for an industrial placement ?
Here are a few answers to the questions you might have about our institution, our courses and our students :
What is the 'IUT de Lannion' ?
The IUT (Institut Universitaire de Technologie) of Lannion is part of the University of Rennes 1 in Brittany, in the north west of France.
We are a vocational university offering two or three-year courses in technical fields such as Telecoms and Networks, Computing, Chemical Engineering and media.
Lannion's industrial estate consists of a large pool of companies such as France Telecom and Alcatel and other numerous smaller firms specialising in telecoms. The IUT has established partnerships with local companies, providing our departments with quality equipment but also pedagogical collaboration with professionals.
What diplomas do we deliver ?
'D.U.T’
(Diplôme Universitaire de Technologie)
The DUT is a two-year degree which is roughly equivalent in content and level to a British B.Eng. Students are required to attend a wide range of courses in both general and technical domains.
The timetable is fairly dense. Classroom presence averages over 30 hours per week, a total of 1800 hours over the two years. 1180 hours are allotted to technical and speciality subjects, 620 to general subjects (Maths, Physics, English and Communication skills). The bias is on practical work.
'LP'
(Licence Professionnelle)
The LP (Licence Professionnelle) is a year 3 vocational degree specialising in one area. The emphasis is also on practical work. The students are required to carry out an industrial project and a 4-month industrial placement.
